EigenLayer is a protocol developed on the Ethereum network, introducing a new concept called restaking, which serves as a cryptoeconomic security primitive. This feature allows users to reuse their ETH on the consensus layer. By staking ETH directly or through a liquid staking token (LST), users can choose to participate in EigenLayer smart contracts to restake their ETH or LST. This extends cryptoeconomic security to additional applications on the network and enables users to earn additional rewards.
While EigenLayer does not currently have its own token, there is a possibility of launching one in the future. The protocol has recently launched its Stage 1 mainnet. Early users who engage in testnet and mainnet activities may be eligible for an airdrop if EigenLayer introduces its own token.
To participate in EigenLayer and potentially be eligible for future airdrops, follow the step-by-step guide below:
Task 1: Mainnet
1. Visit the EigenLayer mainnet page.
2. Connect your Metamask wallet.
3. The available pools currently include Lido’s stETH, Rocket Pool’s rETH, and Coinbase’s cbETH. You will need stETH, rETH, and cbETH tokens.
4. Obtain stETH by staking ETH on Lido, get rETH by staking ETH on Rocket Pool, and obtain cbETH by staking on Coinbase.
5. Return to the pools and stake your tokens.
6. Although EigenLayer does not have its own token at the moment, early users who complete mainnet actions may be eligible for an airdrop if EigenLayer launches its own token.
7. For more information on the testnet, refer to the provided article.
Task 2: Testnet
1. Visit the EigenLayer testnet page.
2. Connect your Metamask wallet.
3. Change the network to Goerli.
4. Currently, the available pools for testing are Lido’s stETH and Rocket Pool’s rETH. Therefore, you will need stETH and rETH tokens.
5. Begin by obtaining Goerli ETH from the provided faucet.
6. Send Goerli ETH to Lido’s stETH token contract address “0x1643E812aE58766192Cf7D2Cf9567dF2C37e9B7F”. Once the transaction is complete, you will receive Lido’s stETH tokens automatically.
7. Visit the Rocket Pool testnet page and stake your Goerli ETH to acquire Rocket Pool’s rETH.
8. Now you will possess testnet tokens for both Lido’s stETH and Rocket Pool’s rETH.
9. Return to the EigenLayer testnet page, select “Rocket Pool ETH,” and stake your rETH. Then, choose the “Lido Staked Ether” pool and stake your stETH.
10. Similar to the mainnet actions, early users who complete testnet actions may be eligible for an airdrop if EigenLayer introduces its own token.
11. For further details about the testnet, refer to the provided article.
Participate in EigenLayer’s mainnet and testnet activities to explore the potential benefits of restaking and potentially be considered for future airdrops if EigenLayer launches its own token.
