- Two crypto projects have accused Coinmarketcap of unfairly promoting airdrops.
- One of the assertions was answered by a spokesperson for CMC.
- CMC insisted that it is resolving each case individually.
Two cryptocurrency projects have alleged that promotional airdrops planned by Coinmarketcap (CMC) on their behalf were “gamed” for the advantage of a select few exploiters, and they have accused Coinmarketcap of engaging in unethical behavior as a result.
These promotional airdrops were intended to distribute thousands of wallets to increase awareness of a cryptocurrency project. However, towards the conclusion of the airdrops, tokens were only sent to a small number of wallets, which suggests that the system was being manipulated.
A representative for the CMC responded to some of these assertions, claiming that since at least four of the projects that were identified by SaTT had not yet distributed awards, it is “impossible” for those projects to have been subject to “malicious” conduct.
It was also said that despite the fact that three projects, including SaTT, AgeOfGods, and TokenBot, have communicated their concerns to the CMC team, the CMC team has not received any contact from other projects addressing the purported problems.
However, the spokesman did concede that “bots are an issue that touches nearly every industry.”
The industry has been facing this issue among airdrop programs for some time and the reality is that not a single industry has been able to solve the bot issue entirely.
“We are continuously working to improve our systems and services to limit this issue and will work closely with these projects to find solutions and help resolve any current issues,” the spokesperson added.
CMC added that any claims of bot participation in its airdrops are taken “very seriously” and it is “working on resolving each case individually.”
